Steve M. Nale has been working within the Petroleum industry for the nearly 30 years. His career began in 1980 with Pieco, Inc. and Glasgow Petroleum, Inc–both were Petroleum Construction firms which specialized in the installation of petroleum systems for Major Oil companies throughout the 1980’s. In 1989 Steve Nale opened All American Construction Enterprises, Inc. In 1991 he was offered a position with a major competitor, B&M Construction Company as the Area Manager for petroleum construction in Florida. After seven years working for B&M Construction Company, Steve Nale decided in 1998 to open his own company, Great Dane Petroleum Contractors, Inc. with a small group of colleagues from within the petroleum industry.

MICHAEL BALAN

VICE PRESIDENT SERVICE DIVISION

Mike Balan has been working in the Petroleum industry for over 21 years.  His career began in 1992 with Nozzle Rebuilders Inc., a service company specializing in Dresser Wayne and Gilbarco equipment, servicing all major oil companies.  In 1998 he established Bestech Services, Inc. which became a successful Dresser Wayne ASO and secured a contract with Chevron Products as well as supporting local contractors with start-ups and projects.  In 2012 Mike Balan merged Bestech Services with Great Dane Petroleum and became a co-owner overseeing service and sales.

BRENT WICKUM

PUMP & TANK DIVISION MANAGER

Brent Wickum, Piping Division Supervisor has been working in the Petroleum Industry for over 26 years.  He started out in 1986 through 1991 working for R. Valentine Inc. and Enviropact Environmental as a Fuel Piper and Equipment Operator.  Mr. Brent Wickum continued working in the same capacity for Laid Law Environmental, Hatch Petroleum and DF Consultants until 1999.  In 1999 until present he joined Great Dane Petroleum as a supervisor of the piping division.  Due to his expertise in his field and the top quality work he had completed, it was deemed fair to upgrade his status to co-owner of Great Dane Petroleum in 2007.  Over the years he has obtained various certificates such as OSHA, Hazwoper, Verses UST & Health and Safety Management to further his industry knowledge.

EDWARD AIRS

ELECTRICAL DIVISION MANAGER

Ed started his profession in the Petroleum Industry in 1974 in the Pennsylvania and Ohio area following electrical school. He moved to South Florida in 1978 and where he worked for R&M Electric in Hollywood, FL for seven years. He then, in 1985, went to work for Pieco until 1987 when he went into business for himself opening Edward Airs Electrical Design. His company serviced most of the petroleum industry working on everything from electrical service and store remodels to providing complete turnkey electrical work for ground up stations and tank/ dispenser installations. In 2012, he merged his company with Great Dane Petroleum becoming the Manager of their Electrical Division.

DANIEL (DANO) BRATAGER

PLUMBING & UTILITY DIVISION MANAGER

Dano began his career as a plumber in 1976 as a service plumber with the Port of Miami. He continued his career working with Gosline Plumbing as a remodel/ service plumber and worked up to become the project manager for remodel/ tenant build outs. He then opened his own plumbing company, GPM Contractors, which provided retail plumbing services and worked on tenant build outs. He merged his company with Great Dane Petroleum in 2012 and became the manager of the Plumbing & Utility Division.

ROBERT FREEMAN 

MAINTENANCE DIVISION MANAGER

Robert Freeman has been working in the Petroleum Industry for over 25 years. He started his career working for R. Valentine, Inc. and Warton Smith in General Maintenance and as a Fuel Piper and Equipment Operator from 1989 to 1991 and DF Consultants until 1999, when he joined Great Dane Petroleum Contractors as Maintenance Supervisor. His expertise and certifications in general maintenance eventually earned him the title of Maintenance Manager where he oversees many projects including ADA, remodel programs, site changeovers, pressure cleaning programs, painting projects, concrete restoration projects and more.
